Privacy Policy

Readyish is built to help regular people prepare for common disruptions without ads, tracking for resale, or fear-based marketing. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how to delete it.

Information We Collect

If you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication identifiers. If you complete onboarding or edit your profile, we collect the preparedness details you enter, such as your city or location coordinates, housing type, household size, storage space, budget tier, and preparedness concerns.

If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple shares an Apple-issued user identifier and an email address with Readyish. The email may be your real address or a private Apple relay address, depending on what you choose at sign-in. Readyish stores the Apple user identifier and the email shared by Apple to authenticate you on future sign-ins. Readyish does not receive your Apple ID password.

Your generated preparedness plan, your emergency-kit inventory, your saved (bookmarked) articles, and your completed-drill history are stored on our server so they can back up and sync across your devices. Your inventory also stays on your device so it works offline; the server keeps a synced copy and restores it if you reinstall. This account data is sent over HTTPS, tied to your Readyish account, and can be exported or deleted from Settings in the app.

If you enable alerts or notifications, Readyish stores your alert area, notification preferences, and push notification token so it can check emergency alerts and send requested app notifications. To find alerts that match your saved area, our server sends the area's coordinates (never your name, email, or other account information) to official alert services: the National Weather Service (api.weather.gov), FEMA's public IPAWS alert feed, and the FCC's area lookup service (used to match county-level alerts). Readyish also compares your saved area against active U.S. wildfire perimeters (from the National Interagency Fire Center) on our server to notify you when a fire starts within your chosen alert radius (about 50 miles by default); this matching uses only the area's coordinates. If you use community features, we store your replies, reports, and blocks so the feature can work and be moderated.

Saved map points and notes are stored on your device. The app may use your device location when you ask it to center the map or fill in your home area.

The Map shows live hazard layers. To display these, Readyish requests data directly from RainViewer (animated weather radar) and the U.S. Geological Survey (recent earthquakes); because these requests come from your device, those services receive your device's IP address and the map area you are viewing, but not your name, email, or account information. Active wildfire data (National Interagency Fire Center) and tropical-storm forecasts (NOAA National Hurricane Center) are retrieved by the Readyish server rather than your device. Map tiles are served by Mapbox.

If you join the mailing list on readyishapp.com, we collect your email address and signup source. If you contact us, we collect whatever information you include in that message.

Readyish also collects limited technical data automatically to keep the app working and improve it: crash and error diagnostics (such as device model, operating-system version, and the technical details of a crash) through Sentry, and de-identified product-analytics events (such as which screens and features are used, and whether a subscription trial was started) through PostHog. This data is tied to a random device or installation identifier, not to your name, and is not used for advertising.

How We Use Information

We use your information to create and save your account, generate location-aware and household-aware preparedness plans, provide support, send requested launch or product emails, operate the website and API, prevent abuse, diagnose crashes and understand which features are used so we can improve the app, and comply with legal obligations.

Location

Readyish asks for location only to tailor preparedness guidance to your city, weather, and local risk context. You can type a city instead of granting device location permission.

Service Providers

Readyish uses service providers to run the product: DigitalOcean for hosting and account data, MailerLite for mailing list email, Apple for App Store distribution and Sign in with Apple, Expo for push notification delivery, Mapbox for map display, RainViewer and the U.S. Geological Survey for the live weather radar and earthquake data shown on the map, Sentry for crash and diagnostic reporting, and PostHog for de-identified product analytics. For Readyish Premium subscriptions, Apple processes your purchase and RevenueCat processes subscription and receipt data on our behalf to manage your access to paid features. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services.

No Sale of Personal Data

Readyish does not sell your personal information. Readyish does not use third-party ad tracking SDKs.

Account Deletion

You can initiate account deletion inside the app from Settings. Deletion removes your Readyish server-side account data and revokes active Readyish sessions.

Security and Retention

We use HTTPS and database access controls to protect account data. We keep account data for as long as your account is active or as needed for legal, security, backup, and operational purposes. Backups may retain deleted data briefly until they expire.

Children

Readyish is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
